Our Sustainable Water Management Team is seeking Flood Risk Modellers to help deliver our national programme of work. Focusing on the delivery of flood risk management projects, you will have the opportunity to be a major contributor or lead for our external and internal clients.
Our national fluvial and pluvial modelling team delivers flood modelling to support a broad portfolio of work, including:
- FCERM studies
- Major infrastructure projects across energy, transport, government, and water sectors
- Strategic flood risk management studies
About the Role
As a key member of the team, you will:
- Collaborate with our national hydraulic modelling team
- Deliver or support technical oversight of projects to provide flood risk management-related services for:
- Government
- Local authorities
- Private and major infrastructure clients
- Support the delivery of innovation in the sector
- Work on fluvial and pluvial modelling projects using flood modelling software such as:
- Flood Modeller
- TUFLOW
- HEC-RAS
- ICM
- Support flood modelling studies within the team
- Scope and develop hydraulic modelling approaches
- Lead or contribute to technical reviews of hydraulic models
- Prepare or assist with technical reports and client presentations, depending on experience
- Provide client and stakeholder liaison
- Identify prospective business opportunities and lead on proposal preparation
- Support or lead project, commercial, and financial management
- Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities

What We Are Looking For
We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate ability, willingness to learn, or a commitment to developing skills in the following areas:
- Proven experience in fluvial and pluvial hydraulic modelling
- Technical leadership in flood modelling with working knowledge in multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience reviewing hydraulic models for statutory bodies
- Commercial experience including project management and bid preparation
- Ability to build client relationships and identify opportunities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Chartered status or a commitment to working towards membership of a relevant professional regulatory body
- Experience in any of the following would be a desirable benefit:
- GIS
- FCERM studies
- Flood Risk Assessments
- Familiarity with UK flood risk policy (NPPF and TAN15 constraints)
- Knowledge of UK flood estimation methods
