Flood Risk / Hydraulic Modeller - Sustainable Water Management

Sustainable Water Management Team - Flood Risk Modeller Role

At WSP, you can always find opportunities to grow and do what matters to you. Make the most of our global reach to discover new challenges and work with diverse teams that expand your horizons.

About the Role

Our Sustainable Water Management Team is seeking Flood Risk Modellers to deliver our national programme of work. As a key contributor or project lead, you’ll focus on flood risk management projects, collaborating with hydraulic modelling teams to provide services for government, local authority, private, and major infrastructure clients.

Fluvial and pluvial modelling (e.g., using Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HECRAS, ICM) plays a central role in projects such as:

  • FCERM studies
  • Major infrastructure projects (across energy, transport, government, and water sectors)
  • Strategic studies

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Developing/scoping hydraulic modelling approaches
  • Leading or supporting technical model reviews for internal and external clients
  • Providing expertise in areas like geospatial information (GIS), flood risk assessments, or policy (e.g., NPPF, TAN15)
  • Supporting business development, project messaging, bid preparation, and client relationships
  • Project delivery, commercial management, and interdepartmental coordination

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
