Our Sustainable Water Management Team is seeking Flood Risk Modellers to deliver our national flood risk management programme. You’ll work on a range of projects, contributing to—or leading—accessible water solutions for clients across government, local authorities, infrastructure, transport, energy, and the water sector.
Our national fluvial (surface water) and pluvial (rainfall-runoff) modelling team supports projects including:
- Flood Defence Asset Risk Management (FDARM/FCERM) assessments
- Major infrastructure schemes
- Strategic flood risk and resilience studies
As a key team member, you’ll collaborate with our hydraulic modelling specialists to deliver high-quality flood risk services—from technical model reviews and complex scenario assessments to innovative solutions for sustainable water management.
Key Responsibilities
-
Modelling & Technical Leadership
- Perform fluvial and pluvial hydraulic modelling using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS (HECRAS), or ICM.
- Develop, validate, and report on flood risk modelling for clients.
- Lead or support scoping, design, and technical review of hydraulic models.
- Contribute to drafting technical reports, presentations, and consultation documents.
-
Project & Business Development
- Identify potential project opportunities and prepare tenders, bids, or proposals.
- Assist in financial management, commercial planning, and project delivery timelines.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
