Mears are excited to announce an existing contract expansion, with our long-time client Cross Keys Homes. We have worked with Cross Keys Homes for 18 years and have just signed off for a further 10 years. Previously the Kitchen installations have been sub-contracted out and now we are bringing it all in house!

As part of our Kitchen Installation team, you'll play a key role in transforming peoples' homes, delivering high-quality kitchen refurbishments that make a real difference to residents. You'll work alongside a supportive and experienced team that takes pride in delivering excellent workmanship, maintaining high standards, and providing outstanding customer service.
From the removal of existing kitchens through to the installation of new, modern spaces, you'll see the impact of your work firsthand.

About the Role:
As a Floor Layer working on the Cross Keys Homes contract, you will install, repair and maintain a variety of floor coverings within our properties. This includes fitting vinyl, safety flooring, carpet tiles, laminate, and other flooring materials to a high standard.
The Floor Layer is responsible for preparing subfloors, ensuring accurate measurements, and delivering durable, quality finishes that meet customer expectations and contract standards. The role requires excellent attention to detail, a strong focus on health and safety, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service while working respectfully within tenants' homes.

Role Responsibilities:
- Install and repair a variety of floor coverings, including vinyl, safety flooring, carpet tiles, and laminate flooring.
- Measure and prepare floor areas accurately before installation.
- Remove existing floor coverings and safely dispose of waste materials.
- Prepare subfloors by levelling, screeding, and repairing surfaces where necessary.
- Fit flooring materials in accordance with manufacturer specifications and quality standards.
- Carry out responsive repairs and planned maintenance works within occupied and void properties.
- Ensure all work is completed to agreed timescales and performance targets.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy working environment at all times.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with residents, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Identify and report any additional repairs or property defects encountered during works.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently.
- Complete job records, paperwork, and electronic reports accurately.
- Work collaboratively with other trades to ensure repairs are completed effectively and with minimal disruption to residents.
- Contribute to the delivery of excellent customer service and resident satisfaction across the Cross Keys Homes housing stock.
Key Criteria:
- Proven experience in Floor Laying
- Experience in the above duties
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices
- Full UK driving license
