The Role
To ensure the smooth running of the broadcast. Making sure the production goes according to plan and that everyone involved in the programme — presenters, camera crew, guests and audience — knows what they have to do and when they have to do it.
As a Floor Manager you'll organise both people and equipment, making sure that programmes run according to a set plan and that people taking part know their particular roles and how these fit in with the bigger picture.
It's up to you to make sure that sets, props and technical equipment are safe, ready to use and in the right position prior to filming, and pass on cues to presenters and guests to ensure timings are met and the broadcast goes smoothly.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ROLE IS ON A JOBSHARE BASIS, 2 DAYS A WEEK, SHARING WITH THE EXISTING FLOOR MANAGER ON DAYTIME ON 5
Key Responsibilities
- The floor manager is responsible for the health and safety of guests and presenters on the floor. This includes escorting them to and from the studio and adhering to any risk assessments.
- The floor manager is vital for communication between the gallery and the floor… they are the eyes and ears of the director on the floor.
- The floor manager is expected to brief presenters and guests on anything to do with props, what’s coming next or any changes to the show.
- Preparing for the upcoming parts in the show.
- In charge of any rehearsals on the floor.
- Counting and cueing in presenters.
- Floor manager will liaise with studio runners on props and ensure they are on set at the correct point. Also liaising with cameras and lighting on placement.
- Communicating with stagehands any set movements during the show.
- Making sure the set is dressed appropriately and everything is set in position before the show.

Key Requirements
- Proven experience in live television production is essential for this role. You will be familiar with dealing with presenters, guests and crew and an understanding of the technical requirements needed for live broadcast.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead a team of runners as well as liaising with output and editorial teams.
- A strong understanding of and preferably training in Studio Health & Safety including a demonstrable knowledge of dynamic risk assessment.
