The Role
We're looking for exceptional Floor Managers to join V&A East and play a pivotal role in delivering welcoming, safe and inspiring visitor experiences across our new cultural destinations in East London. Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager at either V&A East Storehouse or Museum, you'll lead our front-of-house teams, oversee day-to-day operations, and help establish V&A East as a world-class cultural hub.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced people manager who thrives in fast-paced public environments and is passionate about creating outstanding experiences for visitors, staff and volunteers alike.
We have fixed-term, permanent, full-time and part-time Floor Manager vacancies available at V&A East Storehouse and V&A East Museum. Please note that while the role will be primarily based at one location, you may be asked to work across V&A East Museum and Storehouse.
About The Role
As a Floor Manager, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of front-of-house, security and commercial operations. You'll ensure our visitors feel welcome, engaged and safe while leading a high-performing team in a fast-paced public environment.
You'll
- Lead and support a team of Floor Assistants to deliver an outstanding visitor welcome.
- Manage daily operations, staffing rotas and duty management responsibilities.
- Carry out security patrols and lead responses to incidents and emergencies.
- Work closely with colleagues across collections, access, security, volunteering and commercial teams.
- Support retail and catering activity, helping teams achieve commercial targets through excellent visitor engagement.
- Champion V&A East's values and contribute to wider operational and strategic objectives.
About You
You'll be a confident and organised leader who enjoys working with people and thrives in dynamic public-facing environments. We're particularly interested in candidates who have:
- Experience leading, motivating and developing customer-facing teams.
- Strong operational management experience within complex public venues or visitor environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems calmly and diplomatically.
- Knowledge of health and safety compliance and operational best practice.
- An understanding of how great visitor experiences contribute to commercial success.
