Purpose of Job
Reporting to the Flow Assurance Study Manager, the position will provide Flow Assurance analysis and technical support to the various projects undertaken by the Genesis Aberdeen and London offices.
The engineer will be part of the flow assurance team in the UK and the wider global flow assurance community, operating independently in:
- Performing flow assurance studies
- Writing up results/reports
- Engaging with clients
- Leading studies (dependent on experience)

Experience with OLGA is a necessity, while previous CO2 flow assurance experience is preferred due to the growing Energy Transition projects focus.
The role demands varied work, including:
- Front-end conceptual studies
- Detailed design
- Operational support
The engineer will deliver flow assurance analysis to identify optimised solutions based on client drivers, effectively communicating these solutions through:
- Calculations
- Technical reports
- Presentations
The role will also involve:
- Teamwork support
- Contribution to marketing and business development activities
- Collaboration with the wider Process Engineering group.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Ensures completion of safe and operable design per Genesis and project requirements, regulatory standards, and codes.
- Regularly communicates with the Study Manager to ensure timely progression toward objectives.
- Liaises with other engineering disciplines for interfaces and coordination.
- Develops engineering solutions aligned with project needs.
- Conducts flow assurance simulations as defined.
- Undertakes computations adhering to Genesis and project quality requirements.
- Participates in flow assurance business development to support Aberdeen and other Genesis offices.
- Engages in engineering coordination meetings.
- Presents to client stakeholders to communicate findings.
- Collaborates in safety and design reviews, as required.
- Particiates in Genesis global flow assurance team knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Assists team leader and performs all reasonable job tasks required.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate has:
- Recognition as a flow assurance engineer with strong experience in upstream oil and gas/Energy Transition projects.
- Expertise in Flow Assurance using OLGA.
- A degree in Chemical Engineering (or related fields) and CEng &/or PEng (or equivalent international qualifications).
- Experience in conceptual and front-end flow assurance studies
- Proficiency in CO2 flow assurance studies.
- Desirable: prior exposure to detailed design and operational flow assurance; general process engineering.
- Advantage: relevant business development experience.

Required Competencies
Must demonstrate:
- OLGA proficiency, with familiarity with:
- PipeSIM / PipePhase, PVTSim.
- Leda Flow, Maximus, PIPENET, Flow Master, CFD, and/or FEA (preferable).
- Deep understanding of thermodynamics with Multiflash experience.
- Fluency in English (both spoken and written).
- Clear, professional report-writing skills.
- Strong communication and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability and stress resilience in fast-paced environments.
- Creative and agile approach.
- Leadership and team-building attributes.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Technical judgement in cross-disciplinary engineering assessments.
- Analytical problem-solving skills to devise proactive solutions.
- Capacity to articulate flow assurance concepts clearly.
- Advanced computer literacy with expertise in MS Office.
