Key Details
- Location: Midland Super Hub, NN6 7HQ
- Salary: £24,100 rising to £28,300 over the apprenticeship
- Hours: 36/hour – Day shift (generally 07:00–19:00)
- Shift Patterns: 7-day operation (weekend working may be required)
- Start Date: August 2026
- Contract: Permanent (subject to successful completion of apprenticeship)
- Training Provider: University of Wales Trinity Saint David
- Study Mode: Online
What You’ll Do
You’ll work in the Flow Room, where live operational data and automated systems come together to keep parcels moving smoothly. Key responsibilities include:
- Monitor parcel flow through automated sorting systems
- Use real-time data to identify issues and support decisions
- Operate key systems like SCADA, yard management tools, warehouse systems, and automated guided vehicle systems
- Support cross-site coordination with operations, engineering, transport, and control teams
- Troubleshoot faults, blockages, and system disruptions, prioritising repairs and optimising flow
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with trailer and yard management

Your Studies (Part-Time Degree)
Through University of Wales Trinity Saint David, you’ll earn a BSc Supply Chain and Logistics over 4 academic years. Course modules cover:
- Data analytics
- Lean thinking
- Organisational management
- Warehousing and stock operations
- Capacity planning
- Logistics technologies
- Supply chain operations
- Risk management
No travel required for studies.
Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Aged 18+ by start date
- GCSE Maths & English – Grade C/4 or above, or Level 2 Essential Skills in literacy/numeracy
- Level 3 qualification (e.g., A Levels, BTEC) or equivalent
- (Alternative) Candidates with GCSE Maths/English + 5+ years relevant industry experience may qualify; final eligibility confirmed by recruiter.

Your Career Development
This apprenticeship is designed to launch your operational leadership, making you eligible for promotion into management roles within Royal Mail, starting pay from £36,353.
