Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer Consultant

Salary range: £36,000 to £46,000 per annum (depending on experience) Location: Bristol Working pattern: Flexible hybrid (office and work from home) Closing date: 12 July 2026 (applications encouraged early; vacancies may close sooner)


About the Role

Frazer-Nash seeks a Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer Consultant to apply advanced technical expertise to complex engineering challenges. Your work will drive innovation in safety, reliability, efficiency, and sustainability across critical systems in sectors like nuclear/low-carbon energy, transport, defence, and the process industries.

Ownership & Growth

  • Partner with clients from early engagement through proposal writing, project delivery, and capability deep-dive.
  • Manage work packages, lead small teams, and guide colleagues as experience grows.

Development

  • Shape Frazer-Nash’s fluid flow and heat transfer expertise (e.g., bids, proposals, conferences).
  • Career support: expediate Chartered Engineer or Fellow accreditations.

What You’ll Do

Technical Analytical

  • Model and analyse fluid flow, heat transfer, and thermal performance across engineering systems.
  • Validate CFD, hand calculations, or could result with clear recommendations.
  • Collaborate on system design modifications to reduce risks and optimize safety/performance.

Client-Facing & Business Development

  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients.
  • Bridge gaps between client challenges and engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to bid strategies and long-term relationships.

What We’re Looking For

Technical Expertise

  • Master’s degree/PhD or equivalent experience in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, or thermofluid systems.
  • Hands-on experience with CFD tools (e.g., Fluent, Star-CCM+), 1D modelling (e.g., Flomaster, Amesim), and design-validation practices.
  • Ability to translate complex analysis into practical engineering decisions, accounting for deliverability constraints.
