FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the utilities industry for an experienced Flushing Technician to strengthen their team.

Location & Working Hours

This is a field-based role covering the Swindon area. The working pattern is Monday to Friday.

Flushing Technician Role

The role involves supporting water quality and network operations activities across the Thames Water network, ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory standards. You will assist with planned flushing programmes, valve operations, shut-offs, reconnections and stop tap replacements to help maintain network integrity and water quality.

Flushing Technician Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned flushing activities across the water network.
  • Support valve operations, shut-offs, reconnections and stop tap replacement works.
  • Take and record chlorine and turbidity readings accurately.
  • Monitor and maintain water quality standards during operational activities.
  • Capture and report operational data promptly and accurately.
  • Work closely with field teams, supervisors and client representatives to ensure successful programme delivery.
  • Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures while working in live operational environments.
  • Respond proactively to changing site conditions and support operational problem-solving where required.

Flushing Technician Requirements

  • Experience within water network operations (essential).
  • Knowledge of flushing activities, valve operations and stop tap works.
  • Understanding of water quality processes and network performance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail with experience recording operational data and field readings.
  • Commitment to safe working practices and compliance procedures.
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative in field-based environments.
  • Relevant water industry training, valve operation certification or similar qualifications (desirable).
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
