FM Compliance Engineer (Electrical Bias) – Full-Time, Permanent
About the Role
Join SSE as an FM Compliance Engineer (Electrical Bias) in this vital role, shaping safe, compliant, and supportive environments across our UK and Ireland property portfolio. As the linchpin of a safety-first culture, you’ll collaborate with FM teams, contractors, and stakeholders to drive clarity, accountability, and proactive risk management—ensuring every site operates with confidence, integrity, and resilience.
Building and delivering compliant statutory maintenance, leading audits, and optimising performance in electrical systems, HVAC, fire safety, and mechanical services while fostering strong partnerships for ongoing improvement.
Your Responsibilities
- Partner with FM teams and contractors to cultivate a culture of safety, compliance, and collective accountability
- Plan, execute, and oversee statutory maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory and organisational standards
- Provide clear, actionable reporting on performance, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Lead audits and compliance processes, maintaining accurate records and readiness across all sites
- Guide contractor performance with a focus on quality, value alignment, and adherence to service standards

You’ll spend 50% of your working week in one of our UK offices: Perth, Havant (Reading), or Thatcham.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in electrical compliance, engineering, or technical assurance within an FM, estates, or facilities management environment
- In-depth understanding of statutory compliance across key building services:
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- HVAC
- Fire safety
- Asbestos management
- Ability to build trust and communicate complex technical details with clarity to diverse stakeholders
- Analytical, detail-oriented mindset, with expertise in risk management and process optimisation
- Relevant technical qualifications and a commitment to continuous professional development
