Ops, FM & EHS Category Manager
The Ops, FM & EHS Category Manager leads the activities across categories of spend with accountability for developing and executing effective procurement strategies for the categories and actively contributing to the development of the procurement function’s service to Primark.

What You’ll Do as an Ops, FM & EHS Category Manager
Collaborating across various skillsets, your day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute strategic category management to drive spend under management and ensure value for Primark, supporting both business-as-usual and strategic initiatives for assigned categories.
- Be accountable for developing and executing a multi-year category plan, aligned with business goals, market dynamics, and internal demand, ensuring optimal performance, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
- Lead the creation and implementation of go-to-market and sourcing strategies, associated plans, and negotiation strategies, including them in your category plan.
- Identify, assess, and manage supplier risk and supply-related risks within your category area, ensuring resiliency, regulatory compliance, efficiency, and governance standards.
- Monitor market trends, supply dynamics, and emerging risks, adjusting category strategies accordingly.
- Lead a multi-year cost efficiency programme for the category, aligned with Primark’s Cost Efficiency programme and targets, agreed with budget owners.
- Focus on continuous operational improvement, innovation, and sustainability beyond price.
- Lead the negotiation of high-value, complex contracts, ensuring supplier alignment and contribution toward Primark 2030 strategy.
- Ensure Category Specialist and GBS teams execute agreed go-to-market and sourcing plans within expected standards and timelines.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and influencing skills to champion opportunities across functional leaders and gain buy-in.
- Foster trusted partnering relationships with senior internal stakeholders to understand business needs, risks, and align procurement strategies with business goals.

What You’ll Bring
We believe in bringing our authentic selves while contributing specific skills and experiences:
- 7+ years’ experience in a Category Manager role. Any related procurement category expertise is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to manage complex sourcing activities (e.g., multi-market, diverse maturity levels, large scale) to supplier recommendation/award and demonstrate use of various sourcing approaches while providing stakeholder updates.
- Proven success in developing and delivering multi-year strategies ensuring competitive commercial advantage.
- Expert knowledge of financial and legal contract negotiations, along with a deep awareness of ethical sourcing and corporate social responsibility issues.
- Leadership of cross-functional negotiation teams; able to sign off negotiation strategies, conduct negotiations, and manage commercial components of contract drafting.
- Ability to forge close business relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all management levels.
- Track record in developing strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
- Capacity for frequent travel (>20% of the time).
