Focal Network Engineer
Location: London, United Kingdom Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent
A leading technology infrastructure and network services provider is seeking an experienced Focal Network Engineer to support enterprise networking projects and managed service customers across mission-critical environments.
This is a hybrid technical role combining project delivery, operational support, and network engineering expertise. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure while ensuring high service availability across customer environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver enterprise network installation, configuration, and support activities
- Support managed service customers across BAU and project-based work
- Configure and troubleshoot routing, switching, wireless, and security infrastructure
- Build and support core network services, including DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory
- Configure VLANs, VRFs, IP addressing, firewall policies, and access control lists (ACLs)
- Produce and maintain high- and low-level network design documentation
- Monitor network performance using infrastructure monitoring platforms
- Support cloud networking and hybrid infrastructure integrations
- Manage vendor licensing, firmware updates, and lifecycle activities
- Provide technical support during planned maintenance and out-of-hours change windows
- Participate in an on-call support rota for critical customer environments
- Review vendor security bulletins and End-of-Life notifications
- Maintain technical documentation and network configuration records

Requirements
- Proven experience delivering enterprise network infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of routing, switching, wireless, and network security technologies
- Experience with Cisco enterprise networking solutions
- Experience configuring:
- VLANs
- VRFs
- IP addressing
- Firewall policies
- Knowledge of DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, and Windows Server environments
- Experience producing technical network documentation and designs
- Understanding of network monitoring platforms and infrastructure management tools
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Industry certification at CCNP level (or equivalent) preferred
