Role Overview
- Hours: 38 hours per week (Shift Times: *08:00 AM to 06:00 PM, 4 days a week, including weekend rotations)
- Location: Summer Lane Nursing Home, Weston-Super-Mare
- Employer: Part of Country Court Family, which operates across 3,300+ employees and 45+ care homes.
About the Role
Summer Lane Nursing Home delivers family-led residential care, specialist dementia care, and individualised nursing care in a modern, homely environment. Our team, led by Vimal (Manager), fosters a ‘warm and homely atmosphere’ and helps residents create lasting memories.
Within this caring community, this role—Front of House Host—focuses on ensuring a warm, attentive, and high-quality dining experience for our residents by assisting with food, beverage service, and table management.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Serving meals, snacks, and beverages to residents
- Replenishing snack stations
- Cleaning up after all meals
- Re-laying dining tables and cleaning cloths
- Maintaining cleanliness of dining/kitchen areas

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting residents: Ensuring all nutritional and dietary needs are met.
- Staff collaboration: Working closely with kitchen staff, dining assistants, and care team members.
- Maintaining safety: Adhering to COSHH and strict health & safety standards.
- Creating a welcoming atmosphere: Engaging with residents, their families, and colleagues.
About You
We welcome passionate, proactive individuals who:
- Have exceptional customer service skills.
- Offer experience in food & beverage roles (Catering Assistant, Waiter, Host/Stand).
- Demonstrate breadth of knowledge within the kitchen or restaurant industry.
- Corpulate: Caring, friendly, approachable.
- Engagement: High proficiency in communicating with residents, families, and other stakeholders.
- Dementia awareness: Understand different levels of cognitive disability.
- Working styles: Can operate as self-motivated independents and effective team players.
Soft Skills & Attributes: ✔ Adaptability to diverse care scenarios. ✔ Reliable self-starter. ✔ Patience and empathy for families/care needs requirements.
Requirements
