Food & Beverage Assistant

Department: Escapade Gallery - Restaurant Bar

The Food and Beverage Assistant will play a crucial role in delivering an exceptional dining experience to our guests. Working closely with the Food and Beverage team, they will provide a welcoming, courteous and efficient service, ensuring all aspects of service run effectively and that our guests have a positive and memorable experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guest Relations: Recognise and acknowledge owners and repeat guests and offer them a personalised experience when visiting the bar and restaurant to allow for a memorable guest experience.
  • Guest Assistance: Greet and welcome guests with a friendly, engaging, and open demeanour. Offer guests information about the food and beverage menus, making personalised recommendations regarding their selections and ensuring guest satisfaction. Take and process guests food and beverage orders. Relay orders to the kitchen and bar team accurately and promptly. Deliver orders promptly and attentively, striving for high guest satisfaction.
  • Attention to detail: Verify the accuracy of orders before serving to ensure that they meet guest requirements. Pay close attention to food safety and allergen procedures to meet guest needs.
  • Coffee & Tea Preparation: Expertly prepare a wide range of coffee and tea beverages, including espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, cold brews, and artisanal teas, adhering to our high-quality standards. Showcase creativity and skill by crafting intricate and visually appealing latte art with excellence, adding an artistic touch to every beverage.
  • Bar Preparation: Assist in setting up the bar area before service, including restocking supplies, garnishes and glassware. Ensure the bar area is clean, organised and well-maintained. Assist colleagues to ensure exceptional service and unique drinks are provided to our guests.
  • Table Preparation: Set up and prepare dining tables for the service of guests. Continuously monitor tables, clearing used dishes, and resetting them for incoming guests. Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the dining area.
  • Bar Maintenance: Prepare a variety of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. Following recipes and standards to ensure consistency and quality. Ensure all beverage products are prepared with precision and consistency, guaranteeing the highest quality for our guests. Perform regular maintenance tasks during service including maintaining and cleaning coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment, ensuring that they are in excellent working condition at all times. Monitor and manage inventory levels of beverages, garnishes, and bar supplies and report any shortages or issues to the Restaurant Manager.
  • Billing and Payment: Present bills, process payments, and handle cash and credit card transactions accurately. Assist guests with any billing queries or special requests.
  • Knowledge of Menu and Specials: Stay informed about the restaurant’s menu, daily specials and beverage offerings. Describe menu items, ingredients and preparation techniques to guests.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work with and support the Food and Beverage team to maintain a smoothly operating bar and restaurant, providing exceptional standards to our guests and executing special promotions or events. Support with training of other staff members when needed.
  • Hygiene and Safety: Report any safety or security concerns to the Restaurant Manager and assist in enforcing safety measures. Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations. Follow established service and health and safety procedures. Uphold company policies and standards for quality service.
  • Sustainability: To promote, implement and act with the sustainability initiatives as directed by Escapade, Silverstone.

Performance will be checked against the following:

  • Detailed objectives will be set through the Personal Development Review (PDR) process

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel or any other lifestyle/distinctive brand is desirable but not required
  • Holding a personal license is desirable
  • A strong, yet positive guest service style
  • Organised and ability to work within the team or on their own
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A good command of the English language. Additional languages are advantageous
  • Maintains impeccable personal grooming standards while radiating an aura of elegance and refinement
  • Full clean UK driving licence is desirable
