Food & Beverage Assistant / Waiter / Waitress Relais & Chateau at Thornbury Castle

You will be working in a unique and beautifully restored Castle, creating truly memorable and impressive 5-star experiences for our guests.


About Thornbury Castle Hotel

Set on 15 acres of beautiful land, Thornbury Castle Hotel is the only Tudor Castle operating as a hotel in England. The Castle has almost completed a multi-million pound refurbishment program, bringing back to life the regal grandeur of its past.

  • Located 20 minutes’ drive from Bristol.
  • Offers 26 rooms and suites.
  • Features an award-winning restaurant, bar, and two unique meeting and conference spaces.
  • Food style: Modern British, using the best locally sourced produce from our kitchen garden and across the southwest.
  • Operates 7 days a week, serving:
    • Breakfast
    • Afternoon tea
    • Dinner
    • Sunday lunch
    • Occasional weddings and functions

Job Description

[£12.71 per hour] (depending on experience)

  • Full-time permanent position: 40 hours per week (including evening shifts and weekends).
  • Temporary summer job (discussed on application).
  • 8-hour shifts between 7am and 11pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests, take orders and serve food and drinks.
  • Answer all queries about the menu (including drinks) and make suggestions.
  • Take ownership of guest’s requirements and food allergies.
  • Follow Health and Safety and Food Safety procedures.
  • Set up dining areas and process charges and payments.
  • Effectively communicate with all colleagues and managers.
  • Handle guest queries and complaints with a calm and mature approach.

Required Qualifications

  • Eligible to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship required).
  • Dedicated team player with strong communication skills.
  • Natural passion and flair for the industry and food.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, using own initiative when needed.
  • Ambition to succeed at the highest levels.
  • Willingness to learn new things.
