Food & Drink Operative Apprentice
Location: Leeming Bar, Northallerton, North Yorkshire
Shift Patterns: 06:00 - 15:00 or 15:00 - 00:00
Hours of Work: 45 hours per week
Reports to: Production Manager
About the Role
As a Food and Drink Operative Apprentice at ABP, you will be part of an innovative and technically advanced manufacturing environment, directly contributing to operational efficiency and excellence. This apprenticeship aligns with the Level 2 Food & Drink Operative standard, combining hands-on learning with formal training.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with customers to ensure product quality, adhering to their specifications
- Handle a variety of products and machinery throughout the chilled manufacturing process
- Understand and apply correct labelling, weight checks, and quality assurance documentation
- Report defects and address concerns—with comprehensive training provided
- Learn and implement manufacturing techniques to support business improvement
- Complete supported training, including:
- Food Hygiene & Food Safety courses
- Level 2 Food & Drink Apprenticeship programme
- Optional Functional Skills in Maths & English (Level 1)

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications
- No formal qualifications needed, but ideally:
- A minimum of GCSE Grade 3/D in English & Maths
- Or, willingness to complete Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths & English
- Eagerness to learn and commit to an apprenticeship journey
