Food Hygiene Assistant Manager

Food Hygiene Assistant Manager – Cleaning (Nights)

Our Store Services team is now looking for a Food Hygiene Assistant Manager – Cleaning (Nights) to help deliver exceptional standards across our iconic Knightsbridge store, covering Restaurants and Kitchens.

This is a hands-on leadership role within our Facilities function, where you’ll play a key part in ensuring our overnight cleaning and hygiene operations run seamlessly. Working closely with your Store Services Manager, you’ll lead and motivate a large operational team, maintain exceptional standards, and help create a supportive environment for your colleagues.


About the Role

In this role, you will support the leadership of the Restaurants and Kitchens Store Services operation during night shifts and ensure the team fulfils their duties efficiently and to the highest standards. Reporting to the Store Services Manager, you’ll work on a 5 over 7 rota (including weekends) and collaborate with stakeholders across the business to guarantee consistent hygiene standards and operational cover.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining routine cleaning standards
  • Supervising planned, preventative, and reactive tasks
  • Adapting to fast-paced priorities and changing requirements
  • Focusing on people leadership, compliance, and team engagement to drive success

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring optimum team cover to meet operational requirements
  • Managing routine, planned, and reactive cleaning tasks across the store
  • Supporting stock, uniforms, and equipment management to ensure sufficient supplies and adherence to sustainability guidelines
  • Ensuring effective waste management in line with Harrods sustainability commitments
  • Promoting and maintaining Health & Safety compliance at all times
  • Delivering shift handovers, training, and team briefings
  • Resolving conflicts and managing issues confidently
  • Leading, motivating, and developing the Store Services team to uphold exceptional standards
  • Managing people matters, including onboarding, probation, absence, and conduct, in compliance with company policy
  • Completing all required Workday tasks for direct reports

About You

You’ll be an experienced and confident people leader capable of taking full ownership of a night-shift operation in a dynamic retail environment. You thrive in fast-paced settings, lead by example, and take pride in maintaining exemplary standards in hygiene, housekeeping, and compliance.

You’ll have

  • Proven experience in leading and developing large teams within cleaning, facilities, or restaurants/kitcen-related roles
  • A strong understanding of hygiene, food safety, and Health & Safety standards
  • Experience managing performance, absence, and conducting difficult conversations
  • Ability to engage, inspire, and motivate teams to perform at their best
  • Emotional intelligence and adaptability to adjust communication as needed
  • Resilience, tenacity, and openness to feedback and professional development
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive team culture
  • Organisation, adaptability, and the ability to manage shifting priorities overnight
