Job Title: Production Operative - Toffee Manufacturing Nights

Department: Production / Manufacturing

Reporting to: Production Supervisor / Shift Manager

Job Purpose

The Production Operative is responsible for the safe and efficient manufacture of our clients food products in a high-volume production environment. The role involves operating cooking equipment, following recipes and production schedules, monitoring product quality, and maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and weigh raw ingredients
  • Operate industrial cooking kettles, mixers, pumps, and associated production equipment.
  • Monitor cooking temperatures, cooking times, and product consistency to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Transfer cooked toffee safely through the production process using appropriate equipment.
  • Carry out routine quality checks, including appearance, texture, colour, and temperature measurements.
  • Complete production records and batch documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all food safety, HACCP, GMP, and health & safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Maintain cleanliness of production areas and equipment through scheduled cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Identify equipment faults or product issues and report them promptly to the Production Supervisor.
  • Support changeovers between product runs and assist with equipment setup.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve daily production targets and minimise downtime.
  • Handle ingredients and finished products safely, including manual handling tasks where required.
  • Assist with stock rotation and ingredient replenishment following FIFO principles.

Skills and Experience: Essential

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Ability to follow written recipes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good communication and numeracy skills.
  • Understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practices.
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends when required

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 18.00 till 6.00

Pay rate: £***** per hour, PAYE, Paid Weekly

Statutory Deductions for TAX, NI and Pension if not opted out apply
