Food Safety Manager

We are looking for an experienced Food Safety Manager to join our Technical team at JDM Food Group.

This is a site-based role at our Bicker facility, reporting to the Factory Technical Manager, working Monday to Friday 08.30 – 5.00pm (although flexibility is required).

As Food Safety Manager, you will lead internal and external audits, both from Customers and third- parties. Particular focus areas will be root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement. This role drives a proactive food safety culture, ensures site audit readiness, and manages customer technical relationships to prevent food safety-related risks across the production life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • To lead and develop the Food Safety & Internal Audit team, building capability and accountability
  • Own and manage the HACCP system and food management programme
  • Ensure site wide compliance with regulatory (FSA), customer, and certification standards (e.g, BRCGS)
  • Lead audit readiness across customer, third-party & regulatory audits
  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers, building strong relationships and confidence in our brand
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to embed food safety into Operations, NPD, and change management
  • Promote a strong food safety culture to all staff
  • Implement policies, provide advice, and lead audit actions
  • Manage Audit outcomes, complaints, KPIs, and customer satisfaction

About You

  • Proven experience in food manufacturing – including high risk/high care environments
  • Advanced problem solving capabilities, using root cause (5 whys) methodologies
  • Strong customer facing and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Ability to interpret legislation, standards, and translate these into operational controls
  • Strong communicator and ability to drive performance
  • Data driven decision maker

Skills & Experience

  • Advanced food safety qualification
  • HACCP Level 3
  • Lead Auditor Qualification
  • Management experience / qualification
  • Knowledge and understanding of customer COP’s and practical implementation of controls in a factory environment
  • Knowledge of risk assessments
  • Strong IT literacy across Excel, Sharepoint, Powerpoint
