We are currently seeking a friendly and reliable Food Service Assistant to join our team at Merlewood in Virginia Water, Surrey. This part-time, permanent role is vital to our continued success in delivering excellent catering and hospitality services that enhance the daily lives of those we care for.

About The Role

As a Food Service Assistant, you will play a key part in ensuring our residents enjoy nutritious, well-presented meals in a pleasant and safe environment. Your contribution will help maintain the high standards of service that Elizabeth Finn Homes is known for, making a positive difference every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and refreshments according to dietary requirements and menus.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and dining areas, adhering to food safety standards and regulations.
  • Support the catering team with stock control, including receiving deliveries and proper storage of food items.
  • Provide friendly, attentive service to residents and visitors during meal times.
  • Assist with setting up and clearing dining areas efficiently and promptly.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth catering operations.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, or food service role is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety principles, with willingness to obtain formal certification if required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently when necessary.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work part-time hours, including some weekends or evenings as needed.
