Food Specification Technologist
Specification Technologist (Fast Track Contract) – Food Manufacturing
MacGregor Black is partnering with a leading food manufacturing business to recruit a Specification Technologist for a 6-month fast track contract (FTC).
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced specification professional to play a key role in:
- Supporting product launches
- Ensuring compliance
- Maintaining accurate product information across a diverse customer portfolio.
The role involves close collaboration with:
- Technical teams
- NPD (New Product Development)
- Packaging teams
- Customer service teams
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain finished product specifications in line with:
- Customer requirements
- Launch critical paths
- Review and approve packaging artwork to ensure:
- Compliance with food legislation
- Adherence to customer standards
- Collaborate with:
- Ingredients Technologists
- Packaging Specs teams to review and finalise:
- Raw material specifications
- Packaging specifications
- Support NPD projects by ensuring:
- Specification and artwork deadlines are met
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including:
- Technical teams
- Operations
- NPD
- Build effective working relationships with:
- External customers
- Retailers
- Ensure all specifications and labels comply with:
- Current food legislation
- Customer codes of practice
- Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining:
- High accuracy standards
- Adherence to tight deadlines

Requirements & Experience
Necessary:
- Proven experience in a Specification Technologist or specifications role within food manufacturing
- Hands-on experience with retailer specification systems
- Strong knowledge of:
- Food labelling legislation
- Artwork approval processes
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage and balance:
- Multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Relevant food-related qualifications
- Full UK driving licence

- Additional food labelling qualification(s)
