This is an exhilarating permanent, full-time opportunity for an energetic Food Technology Teacher, commencing immediately in September.
The successful candidate will have full responsibility for a dynamic Food Tech curriculum, teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role involves fostering an environment where pupils can safely explore culinary techniques, food provenance, and healthy living.
Key responsibilities include:

Key Requirements
- Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
- Provide or agree to an Enhanced DBS, registered on the Update Service.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the UK National Curriculum for Design and Technology (Food) at KS3 and KS4.
- Possess valid legal permission to work full-time in the UK.

- Culinary Expertise – Exceptional hands-on cooking skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.
- Strong Communication – The ability to simplify complex nutritional theories and practical steps into clear, digestible guidance.
- Classroom Control – Expertise in managing a high-risk practical environment safely and efficiently.
- Adaptability – Skilled in refining lessons to support Special Educational Needs (SEN) students or high-achieving pupils with tailored challenges.
- Digital Literacy – Proficient in using educational technology, interactive whiteboards, and data-tracking software.
- Collaboration – A collaborative team player who works effectively with school technicians, department heads, and wider staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver High-Quality Lessons – Plan and teach diverse, engaging Food Tech sessions whilst accommodating varied learning needs.
- Maintain Health & Safety – Uphold rigorous hygiene protocols, food safety, and kitchen safety (aligned with COSHH and school guidelines).
- Manage Practical Lessons – Supervise live cooking sessions, ensuring student behaviour, cleanliness, and equipment use are well-managed.
- Curriculum Development – Design and update a creative, ambitious curriculum, reflecting national standards and current food trends.
- Assess Student Progress – Monitor and track progress using tools like exit tickets and constructive feedback, aiding GCSE success.
- Resource & Budget Control – Oversee the department budget, including ingredient ordering and maintaining kitchen stock.
- Promote Dietary Awareness – Educate students on nutrition, food provenance, and diverse dietary needs, fostering a positive relationship with food.
- Pastoral Support – Serve as a form tutor, nurturing student well-being and emotional support.
