About the Role
Westfield FC is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Football Commentator to provide live commentary during the club’s match broadcasts.
The successful candidate will bring Westfield matches to life for supporters watching remotely by delivering energetic, accurate, and entertaining play-by-play commentary. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring or experienced sports broadcaster to develop their portfolio while becoming part of an ambitious football club.
The commentator will work closely with the club’s media and broadcast team to prepare for matches, communicate important information to viewers, and help create a professional and enjoyable matchday broadcast.
Responsibilities
- Provide live play-by-play commentary during Westfield FC matches.
- Introduce the teams, starting line-ups, officials, and relevant pre-match information.
- Describe the action clearly and accurately throughout each broadcast.
- Provide appropriate analysis and context during breaks in play.
- Research Westfield FC players, opposing teams, league standings, and recent results before each match.
- Communicate goals, substitutions, disciplinary decisions, injuries, and other important developments.
- Engage supporters with an enthusiastic, professional, and entertaining presentation style.
- Work collaboratively with camera operators, production personnel, club officials, and any co-commentators.
- Participate in pre-match technical checks and broadcast preparation.
- Potentially assist with post-match interviews, highlights, or other club media content.

Ideal Candidate
- Strong knowledge of football and an understanding of the English non-league game.
- Clear, confident, and engaging speaking voice.
- Ability to describe fast-moving action accurately in real time.
- Strong preparation, research, and communication skills.
- Comfortable speaking continuously during a live broadcast.
- Reliable and available to work on matchdays, including some evenings and weekends.
- Able to travel to Westfield FC matches in Woking and potentially selected away fixtures.
- Professional, enthusiastic, and able to represent the club positively.

Previous commentary, broadcasting, podcasting, journalism, radio, or sports-media experience is preferred but not essential. Applications are also encouraged from talented students, aspiring broadcasters, content creators, and football enthusiasts who can demonstrate strong communication skills.
