About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Forging Operative to join our Heavy Forge team. Reporting to the Forge Team Leaders and Heavy Forge Manager, you will ensure components are processed safely and efficiently. You will operate heavy machinery, perform technical testing, and maintain a clean, high standard production environment.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Operational Excellence: Operate machinery around forging presses and work as efficiently as possible to meet production goals.
- Logistics & Lifting: Safe operation of Forklift Trucks and Cranes (including cab crane driving where authorised) for lorry loading and unloading.
- Quality & Inspection: Conduct hardness testing and perform inspections on all components throughout the process.
- Accountability: Formally sign off on Route Card operations (e.g., hardness testing) and report all machine breakdowns or health and safety issues immediately.
- Continuous Improvement: Support the Heavy Forge Manager in improving the department’s state and efficiency.
- Housekeeping: Take ownership of cleaning, tidying, and organising all forging areas.
- Team Support: Assist maintenance personnel when necessary and help instruct and train other forge crew members or apprentices.
- Flexibility: Availability for overtime to meet business needs.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

- Experience: Background in manufacturing, engineering, or a heavy industrial environment.
- Safety First: Strict adherence to Health & Safety methods and procedures.
- Skills: High attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow complex procedures independently.
- Desired: FLT/Crane licences, Hardness Testing experience, or First Aid qualification.
