FORWARD DEPLOYED ENGINEER — BACKEND & PRODUCTION
Project info: We are seeking a production-focused Forward Deployed Engineer — Backend & Production. This is a backend-leaning role built around the modern paradigm of AI-assisted engineering combined with senior-level technical ownership. You will not be writing every line of code manually; instead, you will command specialized AI "Skill Agents" (autonomous coding assistants) to rapidly build, harden, and ship full-stack applications to production—owning the deployment, security, and integration plumbing end to end. Working alongside an AI Solutions Architect, you will act as the technical anchor for high-impact efficiency builds across a diverse portfolio of companies in hyper-compressed 4–6 week cycles. Beyond orchestrating AI agents, you will personally own what ships to production—from the database migration to the deploy pipeline to the incident runbook.
Key responsibilities: • Production Ownership: Take end-to-end responsibility for shipping to production—database migrations, zero-downtime deploys, rollback procedures, and incident response. You carry the pager and write the runbooks. • Agent-Assisted Full-Stack Builds: Command and collaborate with AI Skill Agents to rapidly generate full-stack features, then refine them into robust, maintainable production code. • Security Leadership: Own the security posture of everything you ship—OWASP fluency, secrets management, input validation, and auth/authz done correctly by default. • AI-Native Code Review: Act as the technical editor for AI-generated code. You catch the specific failure modes that LLMs introduce before they ever reach production. • Integration Plumbing: Build and maintain the connective tissue between systems and services, ensuring reliable, observable data flow across the stack.

Requirements: • Senior/Team Lead Background: 8–12+ years of experience at a Senior Developer or Technical Team Lead level. You have a deep understanding of software architecture, technical debt, and what "production-ready" truly means. • Production Discipline: A "zero-downtime" mindset. You know how to implement robust logging, secrets management, and containerization (Docker, Serverless) to safeguard brittle AI-generated code. • Security Depth: OWASP fluency, secure handling of secrets and sensitive data, rigorous input validation, and confident auth/authz implementation. • AI-First Engineering Mindset: Proven experience deeply integrating AI into your daily development workflow. You treat AI Skill Agents (like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Devin, or custom LLM scripts) as your junior developers. • AI-Native Code-Review Fluency: You understand the common failure modes of LLM-generated code and can review, refactor, and harden it to enterprise standards. • Backend & Full-Stack Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge of backend orchestration (Python, Node.js), API development (REST/GraphQL), and the deployment plumbing that ties systems together. • Ownership Without Handoffs: You own your work from commit to production and beyond—pager, runbooks, and incident response included. • US Time Zone Alignment: Ability to work core business hours in the US Eastern Time Zone (New York) to ensure seamless real-time collaboration with US-based clients and the internal team. • Open to travel ~70%
