Forward Deployed Reliability Engineer (FDRE) – A World-Changing Role at Palantir
About the Role

As a Forward Deployed Reliability Engineer (FDRE), you play a pivotal role in ensuring our mission-critical workflows run smoothly.
Your work is dynamic and hands-on:
- On-call response: You resolve urgent issues before customers are impacted, gathering real-time learnings to drive product enhancements, improve internal tooling, and refine operational processes.
- Proactive problem-solving: You don’t just fix incidents—you automate workflows, streamline operations, and advocate for system resilience, ensuring Palantir’s tools deliver ever-improving quality.
- Knowledge sharing: You synthesize field insights into best practices for the entire team, elevating reliability and efficiency across the company.
This role thrives on urgency, creativity, and impact—where every fix builds a stronger, more robust system.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop deep expertise in Palantir’s products and operational processes, understanding their complexities from the ground up.
- Go on-call, responding swiftly to mission-critical incidents with technical clarity and urgency.
- Diagnose, resolve, and proactively prevent issues in field deployments, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance Foundry workflows, improving scalability and reliability for customers.
- Identify recurring operational friction and automate or optimise workflows to eliminate manual bottlenecks.
- Advocate for product changes informed by real-world usage patterns and user pain points.
- Create actionable documentation and share best practices to exceed reliability standards within the organisation.

Note: While weekend/after-hours on-call is not mandatory, you must be fully available to address critical outages during your assigned on-call weeks.

You bring a blend of technical expertise and hands-on problem-solving to this role. We look for:

- Clear communication: Strong written and verbal skills to explain technical details effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Languages & tools: Proficiency in Python, Java, and SQL, with familiarity in parallel data processing and Spark job optimisation.
- Organisational discipline: Precise attention to detail, the ability to prioritise effectively, and adapt to fast-moving priorities.
- Resourcefulness: Finds creative solutions under pressure, from scripting quick fixes to justifying long-term improvements.
- Root cause mindset: Deeply analyzes incidents to prevent recurrence and document lessons learned for broader application.
- Enthusiasm for growth: Passionate about continuous improvement, hands-on troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing.
What We Require
- A background in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
