Rotational Foundation Pharmacist – South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
This is an opportunity to join our dynamic rotational programme for foundation pharmacists at South Tees Hospitals. We currently offer a variety of rotational areas, each providing unique learning opportunities in both clinical and professional skills. You will spend 4 months in each rotation, ensuring diverse experience across areas.
About the Role
You’ll work within an expert team of specialist pharmacists, dedicated medicines management technicians, and other highly skilled pharmacy staff. Your duties will include:
- Delivering the highest quality pharmacy services to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Providing support across wards and departments at South Tees Hospitals.
Additionally, the programme offers:
- Comprehensive induction and initial training
- A personal line manager for monthly developmental and professional support
- Access to resources and a supervisor to develop your personal portfolio, aligned with the RPS Foundation-level programme
- A ring-fenced monthly developmental meeting with peers to support your portfolio and diploma work
- A rich variety of educational opportunities, including:
- Monthly in-house training sessions
- Access to the trust’s junior doctor training programme
- Encouragement to attend external educational and networking events (regionally and nationally)

Key Responsibilities & Working Arrangements
- Rota’d time in a dispensary (with ward/inpatient-based work on all other days).
- 1 weekend shift every 5 weeks (with a reimbursed weekday off the following week).
- 1 late-night shift every 2 weeks (6.30pm–9.30am, reimbursed with a weekday off).
- On-call duties on a rolling basis, averaging 1 in 60 shifts.
- Operate in a pharmacy department of over 180 staff, offering a stimulating, friendly, and professionally rewarding environment.
- Support the Making Every Contact Count (MECC) approach to behaviour change, promoting health and wellbeing for individuals and communities.
