Foundation Phase Coach – Academy

Location: Academy Training Ground, BR3 1NZ Contract Type: Full-time Deadline: July 9th 2026

About This Role

The Foundation Phase Coach will lead and develop U9–U12 players within the Academy’s Foundation Phase, delivering high-quality coaching aligned with the club’s playing philosophy, values, and long-term player pathway.


Key Responsibilities

Coaching & Development

  • Lead the training programme for an Academy Foundation Phase age group
  • Design and deliver high-calibre coaching sessions that reflect the Academy Playing Philosophy and Coaching Methodology
  • Develop and maintain Individual Development Plans (IDPs) with technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and social objectives
  • Conduct Individual Development Reviews and contribute to formal player review meetings
  • Create an inclusive, supportive, and challenging environment where every player thrives

Player Support & Transitions

  • Align with the Academies’ playing philosophy and coaching culture
  • Support player transitions between the Foundation Phase and Youth Development
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Sports Science, Medical, Player Care, etc.)

Relationships & Communication

  • Build strong relationships with parents/guardians, promoting effective communication
  • Mentor and evaluate assistant coaches
  • Present at weekly multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to curriculum/seasonal planning

Compliance & Safeguarding

  • Uphold safeguarding policies and ensure compliance with Club policies, Premier League standards, and performance plans
  • Maintain accurate documentation (session plans, evaluations, attendance)
  • Complete mandatory safeguarding, compliance, and professional development
  • Demonstrate leadership by setting high standards

Experience & Qualifications

Required

  • Proven coaching experience in elite football academies or high-level youth development programmes
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Commitment to player welfare, inclusivity, and professional conduct
  • UEFA/B Licence (preferably working towards UEFA A)
  • FA Safeguarding Children Qualification and FA Emergency First Aid in Football
  • Experience with Individual Performance Plans (IDPs) and contemporary coaching methodology

Desirable

  • FA Advanced Youth Award (in progress)
  • Fluent understanding of Foundation Phase development (U9–U12)
  • Experience mentoring coaches or designing personalised player development programmes
