Developa - We help the best founders win Developa are ex-operators turned exclusive headhunters for exceptional Founders backed by Tier 1 VCs. We're someone you want to know!

Our Client We're working with a world-class founding team on an opportunity that's truly exciting for a Founder Associate who wants to work in a hardcore Gen AI company. We’ve exclusively built their research team, and we’re now helping the Founder CEO to hire their Founder Associate.

Frontier Lab - New Architecture What does this mean? Today's AI is largely built on what's known as the transformer architecture. Transformers were originally developed for language processing, but they've proven remarkably versatile and now power everything from chatbots to coding assistants. Despite their success, they still have important limitations—particularly when it comes to independently making scientific discoveries or generating genuinely new knowledge. Many researchers believe we'll eventually need significant architectural advances, whether that's an evolution of transformers or something entirely new, to overcome these limitations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This frontier lab is building a new AI architecture (general intelligence) that can do discovery. This means the AI can generate hypotheses, test them, and learn iteratively. This approach is expected to unlock significant scientific breakthroughs and commercial opportunities across multiple industries.

The Team The founders are extremely impressive. They are joined by top scientists and researchers from well-known companies (e.g., Deepmind), and some have won global prizes for their research. They are extremely well-funded to advance research and discovery. The team is made-up entirely of researchers and software engineers right now.

The Role The founders are extremely strong academically and very fun. They're extroverts not introverts and it's a dynamic culture. Now they need to focus on what they do best - that's Research!!

So we're looking for a founder associate who is very hands-on/operational. Happy to support the founders at the task level, and take on special initiatives/projects. The role will become more operationally strategic over time.

What not to expect? Being in a top tier research lab means they are not commercialising immediately. So this role will not suit someone who wants to support sales/GTM planning or likes the scale-up chaos. This role is more likely to support founder efficiency taking day to day tasks off them, to supporting tracking research progress, internal workflow design, fundraising research/tracking, investor updates, research conferences/community presence and more! This person must be happy with day to day administrative/EA requirements. This suits a real ‘do-er’, as opposed to someone who wants to solely work on strategic projects.

  • Someone who can own interview pipelines and scheduling.
  • Someone who wants to build their employer brand, social media, and research community presence.
