Founding Account Executive, Akai by Deel
Who We Are — Is What We Do
Akai by Deel is the agent platform built for your operations. We build cutting-edge AI technology to automate the manual, repetitive work that operational teams grind through every day—the work that doesn’t have an API, doesn’t have a clean integration, and doesn’t get solved by traditional automation.
We built Akai out of Deel’s own frustration. To run one of the most complex financial structures in the world—transacting billions of dollars per month across 170+ countries—we needed agents that could operate systems our teams do, but faster, more accurately, and without burnout. Nothing on the market did it. So, we built it ourselves—and it worked.
Today, we’re bringing it to every operations team that’s been told to "just hire more people" to clear the queue.
About Akai
Akai was built internally to solve a problem we couldn’t ignore. Running payroll, compliance, and finance operations across 170+ countries meant navigating hundreds of government portals, banking interfaces, and legacy systems that will never expose an API. Our own teams were drowning in it.
So, we built Akai to put intelligent agents on those workflows and free up time for what matters. It worked internally, and the demand from customers who wanted the same solution was immediate.
Now, Akai is hitting the market with a product and roadmap positioning us at the forefront of operational AI.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Role
This is the first dedicated Account Executive (AE) role for Akai—a founding GTM hire. You won’t just be selling; you’ll be building what comes next.
Responsibilities
- Own a greenfield target account list across Akai’s Iconic Customer Profile (ICP)—targeting scale-ups and multinational enterprises.
- Hunter mentality. Build pipeline through:
- Outbound prospecting
- Multi-channel outreach (LinkedIn, email, direct calls)
- Relentless follow-up (no waiting for inbound leads)
- Run the full sales cycle end-to-end:
- Discovery
- Technical demo
- Business case development
- Procurement & closing
- Scaling workflows for Operations, AI, and Finance teams
- Translate technical product features into clear business outcomes (non-technical buyers need simple, compelling value).
- Expand existing accounts by identifying new workflows, teams, and use cases where Akai can automate.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, FDE—your feedback shapes the roadmap based on real market needs.
- Use Akai & our own AI tools to automate your own workflows, matching the innovation we build.
- CRM & pipeline ownership: Keep data clean and actionable so the team learns from every motion.
Requirements
Experience & Track Record
- 4–6 years of full sales cycle experience in SaaS or tech, with exposure to AI, generative AI, LLM-based products, agent platforms, or API products.
- Top-quartile performer: Documented history of exceeding quota in a high-velocity, high-growth environment.
- Greenfield success story: A track record of zero-to-one bookings—you’ve built accounts from scratch.
- Trainers in tech-selling, targeting Operations, AI, Finance, Product, Engineering, or Innovation teams.

Hunting Mentality
- Owner of outbound sales: You hunt relentlessly, don’t take "no" for an answer, and don’t wait for leads.

Technical & Communication Skills
- Sharp technical aptitude: Fast learner, break down complex systems into simple business messaging.
- Detail-oriented & creative: How you prospect is outside the box (not email templates).
- C-level command: Hold the room with a CFO + Head of AI in a single meeting.
Hunger for Impact
- Founding-team energy: You want to build from nothing in groundbreaking tech—not just sit in an already operating setup.
