Founding AI Research Engineer

Job Title: Founding AI Research Engineer

Location: London Salary: Up to £120,000 DOE

A well-funded AI startup building deeply personalised models that understand the full context of how you work is hiring a Founding AI Research Engineer to help shape its scientific and research direction from the ground up.

This is a rare opportunity to join at founding level and work end to end across some of the hardest problems in applied AI today, including:

  • Retrieval and knowledge base systems
  • Reasoning models
  • Models that understand information live on screen and across applications

You will take projects from inception through to product, with genuine ownership over both the research and the engineering.

This role suits someone who enjoys:

  • Solving deep technical and research-level problems
  • Building products end to end rather than handing off at the research stage
  • Staying close to the cutting edge of NLP, vision, and related fields

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
