Hiring: Founding CTO

We're looking for a founding CTO for a health-tech startup gaining significant momentum. We want an experienced, full-stack profile who can spearhead and own the entire technical side of the product — from the app/platform members touch to the intelligence layer beneath it.

About Vala

Vala is an AI-health studio that moves members from data to direction. We marry blood biomarkers with continuous wearable data for the highest possible signal and insight, and bring a care team to facilitate the member journey. That native dual-layer data interpretation and philosophy sets us apart from the rest.

We're early-stage, but we're seeing a high level of validation across every initiative deployed so far – paid and organic – and are fast building a community of people seeking to understand their bodies better. For more, see https://livevala.com/.

The team includes a seasoned founder who has previously raised 1M+, exited a startup, and has ample experience leading teams through early-stage controlled chaos. Sales, marketing, operations, and finance are covered. We need a strong and committed technical counterpart.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Our goal is to become the most advanced, dual-layer health intelligence in the EU, and we want you to bring the same level of ambition.

What you will do

  • Set technical strategy – own build-vs-buy, stack, and hiring decisions in your domain without a committee
  • Own the technical stack and delivery end-to-end: front-end, back-end, data infrastructure, and the AI-assisted workflow that lets a lean team ship fast
  • Build the engine that is our moat — the adaptive protocol logic that turns biomarker and wearable data into personalised, evolving intelligence
  • Ensure the product clears data privacy and security standards from day one, including GDPR and the regulations that pertain to handling health data in the EU

Who you are

You are a full-stack builder with genuine ML/data depth. You can ship a polished product on your own, and you can build and defend the intelligence layer beneath it. You have shipped real products into production. You think in systems, care about craft, and want ownership, not merely a job.

Most importantly, you are a principled, resilient health enthusiast, who will bulldoze through a wall if required and who knows anything is attainable, if one only dares to try, show up, day by day.

The non-negotiables

  • Strong and proven full-stack capability, with previous evidence you can architect and ship a production digital product independently
  • Applied ML/data science capability – you can build, validate, and defend the models behind our intelligence layer
  • Working awareness of GDPR and health-data handling in an EU context
  • Fluency in leveraging AI tooling to build lean and fast
  • Strong personal affinity for the space and your own health optimisation
  • Comfortable in unpredictable, ambiguous, and occasionally wild circumstances

What you get

  • Significant co-founder equity stake, available under standard vesting
  • Compensation equity-weighted at this stage, scaling as revenue does
  • A clean and complementary co-founder split – the technical seat is yours alone
  • Complete ownership of the technical domain
  • A ground-floor seat in a validated, early-stage business in a sector of the future
