Founding Data Platform & Evidence Engineer | Azure | London | AI-First FinTech
We’re hiring a Founding Data Platform & Evidence Engineer to join an AI-first financial markets start-up.
There is no legacy technology. No existing Azure environment. No technical debt.
You’ll be the engineer who lays the foundations that everything else is built on. This isn’t a traditional Data Engineering role. You won’t be building dashboards or analytics. You’ll build the cloud platform, market data ingestion layer and the immutable evidence pipeline that allows every published market price to be reproduced exactly as it was calculated. Think Azure infrastructure, FIX market data, event streaming, immutable pipelines and regulatory-grade engineering.
What you’ll be doing
- Build an enterprise Azure platform completely from scratch.
- Design and develop immutable market-data pipelines.
- Ingest FIX/FIXML and other real-time market data feeds.
- Build event-driven streaming architecture.
- Create regulatory-grade evidence and lineage across every data source.
- Develop replayable data pipelines so historical prices can always be reproduced.
- Work alongside another founding engineer building the pricing engine.
- Help define the engineering culture of an AI-first organisation using enterprise-grade Anthropic tooling.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
