Founding Engineer
Location: London | Work Arrangement: Hybrid | Focus: AI Product | Salary: £100k–£120k + generous equity
About the Role
Most early-stage startups are building workflow tools, dashboards, or productivity platforms. This isn’t that.
We are a stealth-mode startup building an AI-powered intelligence platform designed to help organisations identify, understand, and respond to complex external risks. The founders bring deep expertise from intelligence, risk, and financial services, and have already secured significant early market interest.
They are now looking for their first engineering hire. In this role, you will work directly with the founders to take a product from concept through to reality, owning:
- Architecture and infrastructure
- AI workflows
- Data pipelines
- Customer-facing applications

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience building:
- Data-intensive products or platforms
- Applications requiring comfort across frontend and backend systems
- Products involving AI, LLMs, or intelligent automation
Equally important:
- Thrives in environments with ambiguity, autonomy, and ownership
- A builder who values deep influence over product, technology, and company direction

Why This Matters
The team is small, and there is a real opportunity to shape both the product and our engineering culture from the start.
If you’d rather build the first version of something important than refine an established product, let’s talk.
