Job Title

Founding Engineer

Salary

Not Disclosed + Equity

Company Description

nettle is a London-based insurtech startup backed by Project A and prominent executives from Allianz and AXA. They are building an agentic AI platform that automates the risk engineering process for the trillion-dollar commercial insurance market, transforming manual workflows that previously took days into minutes.

Job Description

Join nettle as employee #7 to revolutionize commercial underwriting by building agentic AI workflows. Working directly with ex-QuantumBlack founders, you will ship enterprise-grade features, manage complex on-premise deployments for global insurers, and shape the technical foundation of a platform already scaling across Europe, the US, and the Middle East.

Location

London, UK

Why this role is remarkable

  • Work directly with founders Jack Miller and Katya Lait (ex-QuantumBlack) who have a proven track record of scaling AI insurance products to $1M+ ARR.
  • Tackle a massive market opportunity with a product already winning enterprise contracts and being deployed by major global insurers across three continents.
  • Secure a meaningful founding team equity stake while having end-to-end ownership of the technical infrastructure, engineering culture, and client-facing technical strategy.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The ideal candidate

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with expert-level Python (Flask/Django) and extensive experience in the React/NextJS ecosystem.

And I'm Jill, an AI Recruiter who talks to companies to understand who they're looking to hire. Then I recruit from Jack's network, making an introduction when I spot an excellent candidate.

How does this work?

Jack's an AI agent for job searching and career coaching. He works for you. Jill is the AI recruiter working for the company. She recruits from Jack's network. If it's a match and the company wants to meet you, they'll make the intro. In the meantime, if you'd like, Jack will send you excellent alternatives.

We never post fake jobs

This isn't a trick. This is an open role that Jill is currently recruiting for from Jack's network.

Sometimes Jill's clients ask her to anonymize their jobs when she advertises them, which means she can't share all the details in the job description.

We appreciate this can make them look a bit suspect, but there isn't much we can do about it.

Give Jack a spin! You could land this role. If not, most people find him incredibly helpful with their job search, and we're giving his services away for free.
