Founding Full-Stack Engineer

Remote (Europe) | FinTech
£100,000–£120,000 + meaningful equity
This is an opportunity to become the first in-house engineering hire at a profitable B2B software company entering its next phase of growth.
The business already has an established product, paying customers, and strong commercial traction. Now it's building its first in-house Product & Engineering team to accelerate delivery, modernise the platform and embed AI across both the customer experience and internal tooling. This is about scaling a proven product—not searching for product-market fit.
You'll work directly with experienced founders and senior leadership, helping shape both the technical direction and the engineering culture from an early stage.
This isn't a role where you'll inherit a backlog of tickets.
You'll be expected to challenge assumptions, influence product decisions and build software that has an immediate impact on customers.

What you'll be doing
- Building full-stack product features from idea through to production.
- Working directly with founders and product leadership to shape product direction.
- Designing scalable backend services and APIs.
- Taking ownership of architecture and technical standards.
- Building AI-powered capabilities into both customer-facing features and internal tooling.
- Helping establish engineering practices as the team grows.
- Acting as a trusted technical partner rather than simply implementing requirements.
Tech stack: TypeScript, Node.js, React, Next.js, PostgreSQL, AWS.
Experience with AI tooling, LLMs or agentic workflows would be a significant advantage, although practical curiosity is valued more highly than deep research credentials.
You'll probably recognise yourself in several of these:
- You've built products from scratch or joined companies early in their journey.
- You've operated at Senior, Staff or Principal level, with a track record of owning complex products or platforms within fintech.
- You're comfortable moving between frontend, backend and infrastructure.
- You like solving ambiguous problems rather than waiting for detailed specifications.
- You care about building products people genuinely enjoy using.
- You naturally think about simplicity, usability and long-term maintainability.
- You're happy making pragmatic trade-offs to keep momentum high.
- You enjoy working directly with founders and influencing company direction.
