Job Title

Founding Game Engineer

Salary

£90k–£130k + Equity

Company Description

Pebble is a London-based startup founded by former Google and Synthesia leaders building the first generative learning world for children. The team is creating a 3D exploration game where kids interact with an unscripted AI companion, bridging the gap between passive digital content and active, educational play.

Job Description

As the first game engineer, you will own the gameplay and engine architecture for an AI-driven 3D world. You'll build generative systems and procedural environments that adapt to each child's needs in real-time. This is a rare opportunity to define the engineering foundation of an entirely new category of interactive education.

Location

London, UK (Remote Friendly)

Why this role is remarkable

  • Founding role with the autonomy to set the architectural standards and engineering culture for a high-potential AI startup from day one.
  • Led by an elite founding team including the first product hire at Synthesia (scaled $3M-$100M ARR) and the founder of Neoplants ($25M+ raised).
  • Work at the cutting edge of AI and gaming by building complex procedural generation systems where AI is the core product, not just a feature.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The ideal candidate

  • Extensive experience shipping 3D games or real-time products, with deep expertise in Unity (C#) and core engine systems.
  • Proven track record building complex procedural or generative systems and managing the performance/memory constraints of live-service games.
