Founding Platform Engineer
Building the Future of AI Workflows and Data Systems

About the Role
Join Calyptus as a Senior Software Engineer or Earnings Engineer (L5) to build the core systems for our AI product platform. You’ll architect data workflows, design intuitive UIs, and bridge the gap between AI insights and actionable user experiences.

What You’ll Do
- Engineer frontend, backend, and data workflow systems from prototypes to production-ready products.
- Design and implement customer-facing interfaces for querying, exploring, and auditing AI-generated insights.
- Build complex product experiences around concepts like evidence, uncertainty, provenance, traces, and predictions.
- Develop backend APIs covering:
- Customer workspaces and authentication
- Data ingestion and artifact management
- Workflow execution
- Observability and monitoring
- Design scalable data storage systems for:
- Source files, runs, outputs, traces, reports, evaluations, and provenance
- Create internal tools to reduce deployment complexity and manual work.
- Lead early deployment, reliability, and security foundations for the product.
- Collaborate closely with:
- The Founding AI Engineer to integrate AI workflows into the product.
- The founders to identify customer pain points and develop product primitives.
- Help establish engineering standards, architecture, and product culture in a high-growth company.

What You’ll Bring
Core Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in B2B SaaS environments.
- Strong backend skills (preferably Python, FastAPI, or equivalent).
- Frontend and product engineering expertise (e.g., React, Next.js, TypeScript).
- Strong SQL and data modeling abilities.
- Hands-on experience with data-heavy, workflow-heavy, or B2B SaaS products.
- Comfort deploying and managing production systems at scale.
- Demonstrable product judgment: prioritize clarity, speed, reliability, and user trust.
- Thrives in ambiguous environments with strong ownership skills.
- Ability to communicate complex systems clearly and resonates with others.
Especially Relevant (But Not Mandatory) Experience
Considerable interest if you have contributed to:
- Early-stage B2B SaaS products, ensuring reliable, scalable, and customer-centric workflows.
- Data-heavy products like analytics, workflow tools, internal platforms, or AI applications, including:
- File storage, versioning, lineage, and audit trails (e.g., Git-like systems for AI outputs).
- Auth, permissions, rate limits, customer workspaces, and deployment pipelines.
- LLMs, RAG products, AI copilots, or streaming interfaces.
- Analytical or operational workflow dashboards/policies that require clarity privilege.
- LLM APIs, streaming responses, vector search

Technical Tools You’ll Engage With
Our stack is comprehensive but flexible. Irrespective ofDirect experience, your job will touch all of:
- Backend: Python (FastAPI, Pydantic), Async/Await, Kafka, Celery.
- Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS/V Lucio Framelogging, testing, workflow engines, Postgres, SQL (pgAdmin), object storage (MinIO, R2, S3), databases (Postgres, Redis).
- DevOps/Ops: Background jobs, queues, Observability tools, Kubernetes, docker, CI/CD (GitHub Actions), Vercel, Railway, Render, Fly, VMs, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).
- LLMSA/Bot APIs: LangChain, Gradio, MLflow, RAG architectures, LangSmith.
