Founding Strategic Finance Advisor (Founder's Office)

📍 London preferred | Open to exceptional candidates globally
🤝 Founding Advisor Opportunity | ~20 hours/month | Equity (FAST Agreement)

Help shape the financial future of a venture-backed company from day one.

At SplitStay, we're building the coordination layer before booking.

Millions of travelers already coordinate trips through fragmented WhatsApp conversations, shared documents and endless back-and-forth. We're building the intelligence layer that helps groups collect everyone's preferences, resolve trade-offs, reach decisions faster and become booking-ready.

We're still early.

That's exactly why this role exists.

The most important financial decisions in a company's life aren't made after raising capital—they're made before it.

We're looking for one exceptional Strategic Finance Advisor to work directly with the founder as a trusted thought partner on the decisions that will shape SplitStay for years to come.

This is not a traditional finance role.

We're not looking for an accountant.

We're not looking for a bookkeeper.

We're not looking for someone to prepare monthly financial statements.

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys questions like:

  • Should the founder invest additional personal capital into the company?
  • How should that investment be structured?
  • When is the right moment to raise external funding?
  • What milestones should be achieved before fundraising?
  • How do we maximize long-term founder value while building an investor-ready company?
  • Which financial decisions today create the greatest optionality five years from now?

If these questions energize you, keep reading.

Why this opportunity is different

Most strategic finance roles focus exclusively on company finances.

This role spans both:

  • SplitStay's financial strategy
  • The founder's strategic capital decisions

You'll help think through capital allocation, fundraising strategy, financial modelling, ownership, runway, governance and long-term value creation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Where specialist tax, legal or accounting advice is required, you'll help frame the right decisions and work alongside the appropriate experts.

This is a role about judgement, not administration.

What you'll help build

  • Ownership & dilution strategy
  • Long-term decision frameworks
  • Fundraising

Who we're looking for

You may have built your career in:

  • Venture Capital
  • Growth Equity
  • Private Equity
  • Strategic Finance
  • Venture-backed startups
  • Fractional CFO roles
  • Investment Banking
  • Corporate Development
  • Or as a founder who has successfully raised institutional capital

Titles matter far less than judgement.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Thinks like an owner.
  • Is comfortable making decisions with imperfect information.
  • Can balance ambition with financial discipline.
  • Is willing to challenge assumptions respectfully.
  • Understands both the founder's perspective and the investor's perspective.

Experience with venture-backed companies, Delaware C-Corporations and international business structures is highly valued.

Why join now?

You won't inherit a finance department.

You'll help design it.

You'll work directly with the founder while the company's financial architecture is still being created.

The decisions you influence over the next 12–24 months have the potential to shape every future fundraising round, major investment and strategic decision.

If you enjoy solving difficult problems before there is an obvious answer, you'll probably enjoy working with us.

Compensation & Engagement

We use the FAST (Founder Advisor Standard Template) as the basis for advisory relationships.

We currently anticipate:

  • Approximately 20 hours per month
  • Equity-based compensation structured through the FAST Agreement, aligned with contribution and long-term commitment
  • Regular strategic working sessions (in person whenever practical)
  • A genuine opportunity to evolve into a broader strategic finance leadership role as SplitStay grows, if there is strong mutual fit

How to apply

Please send us:

  1. Your story

Tell us about the experiences that best prepared you for this role.

  1. A decision you're proud of

Describe one important financial or strategic decision you helped a founder or company make.

  • What options did you consider?
  • How did you approach the trade-offs?
  • What was the outcome?
  1. Your thinking

Imagine you're advising the founder of SplitStay.

The founder owns 100% of a Delaware C-Corporation, has meaningful personal liquidity and investments, and is considering committing additional capital to the company while preparing for future fundraising.

How would you think about:

  • whether additional founder capital should be invested,
  • how much,
  • when,
  • and through which structure?

We're not looking for tax or legal advice.

We're interested in your judgement, your framework for decision-making and the questions you would ask before making a recommendation.

If you enjoy helping founders make better decisions—and believe that thoughtful capital allocation can become a competitive advantage—we'd love to hear from you.
