But everyone knows the headlines: under intense pressure from rising costs, GP strikes, budget uncertainty, and an ageing population. These challenges manifest as longer wait times, fewer appointments, and lower quality care for those who need it most. The NHS is beautiful, but broken.

The largest cost (£66bn+) is staff, who spend a humiliatingly excessive amount of time on mundane administrative tasks. 35% of NHS staff work all day, every day, just to keep up with paperwork. And that’s where we’re making a difference.

We’re relentlessly automating repetitive processes within the NHS. Our first product, Automated Registrations, is already used by 24% of GP practices in England. 🎯 Mission Statement

Healthtech-1 exists to unlock appointment access in the NHS. Already active in a quarter of GP practices, but we’re not stopping there. At this pivotal moment, hiring is one of my company’s biggest strategic leverage points.

You’ll report directly to Pete (co-founder) for a founding role that sets the trajectory for People/HR—responsible for attracting, engaging, and retaining next-level talent to fuel rapid expansion.


💖 The Role

We’re a scale-up growing fast (20+ new hires in the next 12 months) and need you to level-up and dominate the People function. You’re the first dedicated Talent hire, and we’ve already laid firm foundations—but we need someone who can add operational savvy, expertise, and firepower to take it to the next level.

At this stage, Talent has three core pillars:

  • Sourcing (finding top talent)
  • Candidate experience (Athletic and engaging)
  • Hiring manager experience (fueling their teams)

**You’ll be the art and the science of talent acquisition.

  • ✨ The Art: You charm, persuade, and woo the best talent in the world to join us.
  • 📊 The Science: You drive operational efficiency—planning, end-to-end coordination, hitting vehicle targets, and total funnel visibility.

Opportunities for progression: This is a founder-level role in a People function that will evolve. As we scale, you’ll lead hiring, onboarding, culture, and retention.

We’d *love you to stay long term, but are open to 9–12 month fixed-term contracts if that’s the right fit for you.


🔹 Hybrid Office Culture & Perks

  • 4 days in the office (Stratford) + 1 day WFH: anchor days are Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri.

📅 Projects & Milestones (Month 1–3)

Month 1: Find Your Footing

  • Learn everything: company structure, roles, capabilities, and how we succeed
  • Take ownership of 5 roles, from initial sourcing to interviews + offer management
  • Run a hiring manager retrospective, then implement 3 changes
  • Activate outbound strategy: LinkedIn messaging, referral programs, cold intros, sourcing tools
  • Set up funnel analytics (tracking from lead → conversion)

Month 2: Methodology & Scale-Up

  • Lead role creation (take responsibility for chassis new hire needs)
  • Host a hiring manager kickoff; maintain weekly syncs with hiring teams
  • Build an effective headhunting playbook (templatized, repeatable processes)
  • Run a candidate experience review, apply 3 solutions
  • Run a "top of funnel" project to grow company visibility and brand

Month 3: Meetership

  • Candidate NPS ≥ 4/5
  • Hiring manager satisfaction ≥ 4/5
  • Push 15 candidates into final rounds and meet your offer targets

🔍 Scope of the Role

✅ You fully own:

  • End-to-end Talent Acquisition Lifecycle: sourcing → candidate inquiries → screening → interviews → offer negotiation
  • Market research & benchmarking ( competitors, best practices)
  • Hiring manager partnerships: strategy kickoffs, skip-levels, weekly syncs, and quality pipelines
  • Employer branding ( job postings, website ATS touchpoints, public messaging)
  • Data-driven reporting (analytics, funnel visualization)

❌ Not yours to own:

  • Post-onboard onboarding Management (eventually developed into a separate focus)
  • Content assets ( we’ve partnered with a marketing lead for this)

👎 Must Have Requirements

✔ Right Suitcase: 3+ years of decorыш recruitment agency work plus leap into startup/in-house 30 ✔ Full process expertise: Mastery of the end-to-end life cycle ( attraction to onboarding) ✔ Communicator-inner Have unmistakable charm: high likelihood of reply, elevations, getting candidates to see your HQ as a must-win opportunity (never “where else”). ✔ Execution anti-risk Master of multi-project delivery (the ability to raise one dozen productive things, drive requests, tracking metrics, and spotting urgent bottlenecks) ✔ Mission alignment commits to presenting onward access for NHS patients

⚠️ Note on expectations for engineering roles: Past experience? Busy about servo front-end goes a long way in making ** impressions with recruitment** for your first handful.
