Job Description FOUNDRY OPERATIVE – MELTING SHOP (6-MONTH CONTRACT) SOUTH QUEENSFERRY £27,643 + £3,440.64 (PRO RATA) Days: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 - 14:00 & Friday 06:00 – 11:00 Are you a hands‑on, safety focused team player looking to build your career in a busy manufacturing environment? Progress Rail Services UK is looking for a Foundry Operative to join our Melting Shop team. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in keeping our melting operations running safely and smoothly, ensuring all activities follow the correct risk assessments, safety standards, and work instructions to support a high performing production environment.
THE ROLE: As a Foundry Operative you will be required to: Maintain a safe and tidy working environment in line with company and legal requirements. Operate within the Company Quality Assurance System and support ongoing process improvements. Solve production issues and drive continuous improvement across all areas of operation. Prioritise and structure your workload effectively to meet both business and personal objectives. Work in full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental procedures. Ensure accurate use of Time & Attendance systems. Respond professionally and proactively to customer needs, upholding high quality standards at all times. Reduce non‑conforming errors through attention to detail and commitment to right‑first‑time practices. Apply a clean‑as‑you‑go approach and maintain well‑organised WIP and stock areas. Ensure all plant and equipment remain safe and fit for use, reporting and assisting with defect resolution. Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to be trained in additional production areas. Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the business.
