Job Title: FP&A Data Analyst
Location: Durrington (hybrid working – minimum two days per week in the office)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: Up to £35,000 depending on experience
About The Role
Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for turning data into meaningful insights?
We’re looking for a proactive FP&A Analyst to join our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team at Southern Water. In this pivotal role, you’ll support two FP&A Managers and work closely with Finance Business Partners (FBPs), helping to ensure the accuracy, quality and insight of financial data, systems and reporting.
You’ll be heavily involved in data extraction, manipulation and reporting, contributing to month-end processes, budgeting, forecasting and the production of management and Board-level reports. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your technical finance skills, gain exposure across different business areas and build a strong foundation for a long-term finance career.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Supporting the month-end close process for multiple business functions, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Extracting, manipulating and inputting data from finance systems (including TM1), Excel and other internal tools.
- Producing and circulating regular and ad hoc financial files and reports, delivering meaningful analysis, investigations, and insights.
- Assisting with forecasting and annual budgeting cycles.
- Support in the production of internal and external reports (including Board-level outputs) using Excel and PowerPoint.
- Providing general analytical and reporting support to the wider FP&A team.

Essential
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Detail orientated with a strong level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills (e.g. SUMIFs, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
- Experience creating clear, well-presented reports for varied audiences.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to support multiple stakeholders and priorities.
- A proactive, adaptable approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A confident communicator, comfortable working across teams to build strong relationships.
- A strong interest in finance, perhaps newly qualified in or working towards a finance qualification such as AAT, ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
Desirable
- Experience supporting month-end, budgeting or forecasting processes.
- Previous exposure to FP&A, management reporting or financial analysis roles.
- Experience working with large data sets.
