Director of FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) – UK&I Core Segment
Running the financial metrics, strategy, and storytelling that deliver performance—on your terms
About the Role
Building a sustainable tomorrow starts with smarter financial leadership. Reporting directly to the UK&I FP&A Director, you’ll drive end-to-end FP&A ownership for a core BAM Segment, bridging Divisional Finance with operational execution. Here, you’ll craft actionable insights that influence decisions—from P&L precision to cash flow foresight, forecast nuance to performance scalability. Beyond tracking KPIs, you’ll shape the future of finance in BAM: modernising processes through digital transformation, optimising teams, and embedding an embrace of innovation. This is financial leadership with purpose—where every number tells a story, and every insight drives change.
Your Core Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning & Execution
- Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting, ensuring laser-sharp alignment between Divisional FP&A and Segment Business Unit Finance.
- Take full ownership of CTC forecasting, designing forward-looking projections rooted in data to fuel strategic decision-making.
- Oversee consolidated cash-flow forecasting, producing both narrative-driven forecasts and the undergirding rigor.
- Partner with your Segment Finance Director, acting as a linchpin in the day-to-day transformation of the finance function—digital-first, efficient, insight-driven.
2. Financial Storytelling & Stakeholder Leadership
- Translate financial complexity into clear, decisive action: sharing “numbers with a narrative,” positioning insights as strategic levers, not just oversight.
- Deliver powerful financial models, scenarios, and profitability analysis—to the C-suite and divisionals—backing decisions with confidence.
- Craft compelling business cases and ROI models that unlock value, justify investments, and shape long-term strategy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

3. Compliance, Systems & Team Growth
- Champion tax compliance and best practice across Corporation Tax, PAYE, VAT, working in close partnership with UK&I Treasury & Tax.
- Pioneering financial system improvements in SAP BPC, ensuring consolidation of best practices for efficiency and problem-solving insight.
- Work with BAM’s Segment Finance Director and SSC to develop future-proof frameworks that drive predictable performance.
- Oversee and develop the Segment Finance Manager, fostering a self-sustaining culture of intelect and accountability, sharing the burden of growth.
Who You Are
You thrive as both already-polished analyst and emerging finance leader. Key traits:
- A boots-on-the-ground champion of results—persuasive, precision-driven, and utterly believable in boardroom conversations.
- The ability to leave all stakeholders clearer about closing gaps, elevating wins, and seizing opportunities—or storying why projects shouldn’t proceed.
- Irreducible focus on processes: turning systems into liquid speed where data drags and bottlenecks crumble under your insight.
- Never-done: excited as you are to courageously govern—editor, planner, messenger and team mixer.
Essential Capabilities
✔ Seasoned FP&A expertise with 3+ years of hands-on responsibility (budgeting, forecasting, consolidated reporting) ✔ Strategy-savvy: grace to translate financials into business impact, alongside deep technical fluency in systems like SAP. ✔ Stakeholder savviness: ready to engage makers (executives), dreamers (divisionals), and operatives (planners). ✔ Eagerness to partner with insight-driven peers and technology ecosystems—unembarrassed by digital fluidity or “continuous improvement” constant motion. ✔ Collaborative leader: the type who uplifts teams and changes systems—no passive observers allowed here. ✔ Constant pursuit of how systems lubricate outcomes: eternally curious about improving processes, tools, and habits.
