  • Lead the forecasting, annual budgeting and longer-term strategic planning processes, ensuring alignment with the organisation's commercial objectives.
  • Prepare presentations and supporting analysis for board meetings, executive committees and external stakeholders, ensuring information is clear, accurate and commercially focused.
  • Analyse key business drivers such as revenue performance, pricing trends, workforce costs and operational metrics, identifying opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
  • Develop and enhance FP&A processes, reporting tools and data quality standards, driving automation and improving the accuracy and accessibility of management information.
  • Build strong relationships across the organisation, acting as a trusted business partner who provides constructive challenge and promotes accountability for financial outcomes.
  • Lead the production of periodic performance reviews, assessing results against budget, forecast and historical performance, while working with stakeholders to identify corrective actions where required.
  • Maintain oversight of pricing structures, workforce planning assumptions and other key financial inputs that influence commercial performance and operational delivery.
  • Support the CFO on strategic projects, business initiatives and ad hoc commercial analysis as priorities arise.
  • Manage, coach and develop the Finance Analyst, fostering professional growth and building capability within the finance team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
