Location: Rochester Job Type: Full-Time Salary Range: $110,000 – $130,000 Work Schedule: 9/80 (80 hours over 9 days, every other Friday off)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced FPGA Developer / Electrical Engineer to join a leading defense and communications technology program. You will work within a cross-functional engineering team focused on designing, verifying, and testing FPGA firmware for modem and signal-processing applications in high-reliability embedded systems environments. This role is ideal for candidates with strong RTL development and FPGA verification expertise.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, verify, and test FPGA firmware for communication and signal-processing systems.
- Analyze system requirements and create FPGA development specifications and plans.
- Develop FPGA verification and test methodologies.
- Code firmware designs using VHDL.
- Develop and execute test benches using SystemVerilog.
- Perform FPGA integration and validation on hardware platforms.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of relevant FPGA/ASIC development experience.
- Experience with FPGA/ASIC embedded system solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- VHDL or Verilog development.
- SystemVerilog verification methodologies.
- FPGA integration and hardware bring-up.
- Experience with FPGA vendor tools, including:
- Xilinx Vivado
- Intel Quartus
- Microchip Libero
- Ability to work in Linux-based development environments.
- Eligibility to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Experience
- Industry experience in defense, aerospace, military communications, or high-reliability embedded systems.
- Exposure to modem, DSP, or radio communication systems.
