London hybrid | 1–2 days per week initially, flexing up as authorisation intensifies | £800–£1,000 per day | Immediate start

The FCA's cryptoasset authorisation gateway opens on 30 September 2026, and firms applying under the new regime must demonstrate credible arrangements for the safeguarding of backing assets — one of the most closely scrutinised areas of the final rules (PS26/9–PS26/13).

FD Capital is retained by a well-funded, early-stage cryptoasset business preparing its FCA application. They need a Fractional Finance Director to take personal ownership of safeguarding: designing the segregation, reconciliation and record-keeping arrangements from the ground up, preparing the evidence pack for the application, and giving the board and the regulator confidence that client protections hold.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Who we need — please read this carefully before applying:

  • A qualified accountant (ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA). This is essential and we cannot flex on it.
  • Hands-on safeguarding experience gained in an FCA-regulated firm — you have personally designed, operated or remediated safeguarding arrangements at an e-money institution or payments firm under the EMRs/PSRs, or run a client money (CASS 7) operation including reconciliations and CMAR-type reporting. If your safeguarding exposure is policy-level or oversight-only, this will not be the right role for you — our client needs someone who has actually run the reconciliations and faced the audit.
  • Working knowledge of FCA authorisation — you have taken a firm through an application, VoP or close regulatory engagement.
  • Proven ability to delegate and develop a team — there is existing part-time safeguarding resource to direct and strengthen.
  • Comfortable operating fractionally in an early-stage, investor-funded, pre-revenue business.

Genuinely advantageous: exposure to cryptoassets, digital assets or blockchain businesses; familiarity with the FCA's new cryptoasset regime and the treatment of backing assets; experience of safeguarding audits or skilled person reviews; an established fractional or portfolio track record.

Very few finance professionals will ever be able to say they built one of the first safeguarding frameworks under the UK's new cryptoasset regime. This is that role — with the flexibility of a fractional engagement and scope to grow with the business.
