Fractional Patent Counsel

Fractional Patent Counsel Remote | Flexible Hours | Consultancy Ltd Company Contractors Welcome

We're currently seeking an experienced Patent Counsel to support our clients on a fractional consulting basis.

This opportunity is ideal for a qualified solicitor with significant in-house intellectual property experience who is looking for flexible, project-based work alongside existing commitments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on patent and wider IP matters across the business.
  • Supporting patent portfolio strategy and management.
  • Drafting and negotiating:
    • Patent licences
    • Technology licences
    • Other IP-related commercial agreements
  • Advising on:
    • R&D collaborations
    • Technology development and commercialisation
  • Managing external patent attorneys and outside counsel.
  • Supporting:
    • Patent disputes
    • Freedom-to-operate analyses
    • IP due diligence (where required)
  • Providing commercially focused legal advice to business stakeholders.

About You

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent).
  • Strong in-house experience advising on patent and intellectual property matters.
  • Experience supporting technology, engineering, electronics, telecommunications, life sciences, or other innovation-led businesses.
  • Proven background in:
    • Patent licensing
    • Technology transactions
    • IP strategy
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Available to support on a flexible, fractional basis.
