Where will you be working?

We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.

This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

As a Framework Manager you will oversee the operational aspects of the Thames Water Infrastructure Programmes contract (across London and Thames Valley regions) and be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple workstreams safely and to budget. Reporting to the Contracts Director, you will have overall control and accountability for the operational delivery of all works on the contract. In addition, you will be actively involved in securing new work within the framework and in adjacent contracts as well as identifying any growth opportunities to support the contract.

In addition to the operational delivery of safety and quality you will also be responsible for contract profit and loss, including the identification and management of all project risks including health, safety, wellbeing, environment, programme to achieve client and company performance targets.

You will use leadership skills to manage and mentor your Delivery Managers, Project Managers and Site teams to build high performing teams to deliver their workstreams safely and sustainably as well as to develop them as individuals. You will be able to communicate at all levels within the organisation to build relationships with our clients and supply chain which support M Group Values and behaviours.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure works are delivered safely, meeting all client, M Group & statutory standards and to the highest level of compliance in all aspects.
  • Full commercial and programme responsibility for Framework.
  • Have a hands-on approach for client and team relationships / management.
  • Undertake leadership safety engagement tours and Thames water SHE audits to ensure we are embedding zero compromise safety culture.
  • Proactively manage staffing & resource levels to deliver the volumes work.
  • Ensure that all engineering construction work complies with all relevant construction statutory instruments in accordance with the Thames Water standards.
  • Engage with the client to ensure we are meeting their expectations and delivering on their customer promises (internal and external) to improve our client / customer focus and reputation.
  • Support a strategy that translates into a strong and innovative delivery of high-quality project works in a highly governed and challenging industry.
  • Ensure Operational engagement with internal specialisms (SHEW, Commercial, Service Delivery) to effectively and efficiently work together on delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that workstreams (and individual projects where applicable) are set up and managed effectively complying with Client, M Group and Statutory standards.
  • You'll ensure that a detailed workstream management dashboard (with suitable and effective metrics) is in place for each Delivery Manager to track progress, with regular updates to the Contract Director.
  • You'll manage the CI and Performance Management of operational delivery.
  • You'll Provide annual turnover and contribution budget profiles.
  • Responsible for ensuring that work programmes are delivered right first time, within scope and within budget whilst maintaining highest level of customer and client service at all time.
  • Ensure that commercial and programme submissions are to the right quality and are submitted on time to obtain the maximum return.
  • Ensure that profitability is good and that cash flow is maximised.
  • To carry out all duties in accordance with M Group and Client requirements for Health, Safety and Welfare with due regard to Health & Safety Legislation and policy.
  • In conjunction with your Delivery Managers engage and oversee the management of all Supply Chain requirements necessary to meet the delivery of the projects.
  • Understand and manage key Stakeholders in the region through proactive engagement with Customer team.
  • Act as operational bid lead for tenders, providing fully developed project proposals to deliver on the project briefs and prepare governance packs and take projects through internal governance.
  • Assess and assure any design and pre-construction proposals for technical compliance prior to submission.

Skills And Knowledge Requirements

  • Experience as a Framework Manager of delivering multi-million pound utility projects is essential (experience in Design and Build schemes is desirable)
  • Experience and knowledge of regulated work environments is essential (water networks desirable)
  • Experience of working on similar highly dynamic and complex environments
  • Experience and good contractual understanding of working to NEC4 Options A, C and E and IChemE Burgundy Book (as well as experience with bespoke contracts related to NEC)
  • Leadership skills and experience of managing teams
  • Able to develop programmes to NEC standards and familiar with programming tools
  • HND or Degree level equivalent in an Engineering or Project Management Occupation
  • NEBOSH and APM qualifications desirable
  • Holding a valid UK driving licence is essential
  • Member of chartered institute or equivalent is desirable
  • Negotiation skills
  • Presentation skills
