About the Role
Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) are seeking two (2) experienced freelance Archaeological Cataloguers to collaborate for two to five (2 to 5) weeks (depending on availability) over the summer. Your work will contribute to HRP’s ongoing mission to enhance existing collection records and ensure efficient preparation for future discoveries through depotion.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply specialist knowledge to catalogue each item within the Collections Management System – CI+ including:
- Object type and material description
- Dating
- Dimensions
- Photography
- Record any essential repacking requirements, adhering to HRP’s Archaeological Archive Standards.
- Experience or knowledge of repacking archaeological collections and First Aid for Finds is highly desirable.
- Document new interpretative content for recent/upcoming public archaeology displays, if scope permits.
- Work closely with Collections Management team and Curators as necessary.
- Train on HRP’s CI+ CMS, with onsite/remote access to IT resources for the duration.
